align is an independently developed personal journaling and goal-tracking app. It is currently run by a single developer, not a company. If you have any question about your data, contact dudnikov.sash@gmail.com.
Account info: your username and a securely hashed password, or — if you sign in with Google — your Google account email and name.
Content you create: journal entries, goals, tasks, and any posts, replies, or friend connections you make in the community/forum area.
Technical data: your login IP address (used only to rate-limit repeated failed login attempts), and, if you enable notifications, a push-notification subscription endpoint provided by your browser.
If you connect Google Calendar, we access the calendar events needed to build and display your schedule inside align.
To provide the core service: storing your entries and goals, and showing you your own history and progress.
To generate your daily scoring and suggestions, the text of your journal entry is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. This happens each time you ask align to analyze an entry.
To keep the service reliable and prevent abuse (e.g. login rate-limiting, daily usage caps on AI features).
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your journal content for advertising.
align relies on a small number of service providers (sub-processors) to operate:
• Anthropic — receives your journal entry text to generate scores and suggestions.
• Google — used for optional sign-in and, if you connect it, Calendar access.
• Turso — hosts our database (where your account and content are stored).
• Vercel — hosts the application and provides basic, aggregated traffic analytics.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms; we don't share your data with anyone else, and never for marketing purposes.
Our service providers are based in the United States. If you're located in the EU/EEA or elsewhere, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US as part of using align.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we will delete it within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain something by law.
You can delete your own account and all its data at any time from Settings — this removes your entries, goals, forum posts, and everything else tied to your account immediately, with no need to contact us. For anything else — seeing what data we hold about you, correcting it, or exporting it — email dudnikov.sash@gmail.com and we'll handle it directly, since self-service export isn't built into the app yet. If you're in the EU/EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, these are your rights under applicable data protection law (e.g. GDPR).
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Vercel Analytics collects anonymized, aggregated usage data (e.g. page views) to help us understand traffic.
Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), sessions are signed tokens, and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, standard precautions to protect your data.
align isn't directed at children, and it isn't intended for use by anyone under 16.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know inside the app.
